Springdale...
An Economic Success &
the heart of  NWA  invites  "YOU & YOURS"
to join our amazing area...

Before the first settlement was established in the Springdale area in 1859,
Osage Indians & later Cherokee, Shawnee & Delaware lived upon the land. In 1872, what was known as Shiloh became Springdale, and the arrival of the railroad arrived in 1881 boosted the community's value as a trading center for farm products such as fruits, vegetables and livestock. Springdale, the birthplace of Arkansas's huge poultry industry, is still a major processing and distribution center for the region's farming & ranching.
Springdale is located at the heart of the Northwest Arkansas Metroplex,
which consists of Fayetteville, Springdale, Rogers, Bentonville plus the surrounding area (total population 402,000). It is on the edge of the beautiful Ozark Mountains, which stretch to the south & east. Annually, approximately two million tourists visit the recreational areas of the White River, Beaver Lake & Pea Ridge Civil War Battle site nearby. Like the surrounding Metroplex, Spingdale is one of the fastest growing cities in Arkansas, showing consistent population growth since 1956, I moved here in 1957 when there was only 7,500 people thus watching the amazing growth to a population  63,000+  today providing NWA with a hard-working & well-paid workforce. Growth has not impacted our quality of life.Crime rate is very low & rate of unemployment is half the national average
.With projections showing Springdale´s population to be more than 90,000 by 2019, it´s clear our
fast-growing city will be a major player in the region´s economy for years to come.
Springdale is known for its poultry industry (home to Tyson Foods) but the city´s business community offers so much more. As the region has grown, so has the city. More than 75 manufacturing plants are located here, producing a wide variety of products.

Trucking
has been an important ingredient in the area´s booming economy for many years. NW Arkansas abundance of trucking firms is responsible for the state leading the nation in that category. Nearby Lowell is home to JB Hunt Transport whil Elm springs is home to 'Willis Shaw Express.

Retail
is a strong, growing component of the city´s economy as well. The Center Point Place, one of the largest retail centers in the region, home to Cracker Barrel Restaurant, draws nearly two million visitors a year to its shops near Interstate 540 on the city´s western edge. Now Har-Ber Meadows bussiness area is growing fast as well with several new stores & business in  2007 & more coming.

Infrastructure
has played a vital role in Springdale's economic health. Located at the intersection of the region's two most heavily traveled highways I-540 & U.S. 412  thus Springdale has benefited at every turn from advances & improvements to the area's infrastructure.Growth is positive everywhere in NWA.

The 1998 opening of the Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport in nearby Highfill is the latest example of economic success for the area. With the arrival of non-stop regional jet service by six airlines to Dallas, Chicago, Atlanta, New York, Newark, Los Angeles, Cincinnati, Minneapolis/St. Paul, St. Louis, Houston, Denver, Detroit, Salt Lake City, Charlotte, Memphis & others being added  continuously, the airport has been a catalyst for increased commercial air travel for business & leisure. The vision of city planners to access & manage water from nearby Beaver Lake a great recreation spot, has also been a critical component in Springdale's growth. An abundance of quality water has kept the city at the forefront of economic growth in the region, as high as 8th in the nation.

There have been several influential families;  Steel's/Tyson's/George's/Holcomb's/Ford's/among others who have contributed to Springdale's growth though one stands out for generosity, the incredible lives
& public service of  two gracious people who made it all become reality, Harvey & Bernice  Jones. Harvey & Bernice Jones owned & operated  Jones Truck Lines in Springdale for over 45 years.
They had no children so I guess you could say Springdale became their child. During the long span
of their working & later retirement years, Harvey & Bernice were continuously active in charitable
work to improve public education, health, & family life in Springdale as well as NWA.Their list of their charitable accomplishments is lengthy, but the most visible accomplishments of their work are: The Jones Center
http://www.jonesnet.org/   For Families is an educational/recreational complex open to the public (free) with so much to offer, (check out the link) in Springdale,  Har-Ber Village, the former vacation home of Harvey & Bernice located on the shore of the Grand Lake of the Cherokees, is one of the
largest antique museum complexes in the United States featuring late19th/early 20th century artifacts, technology, & architecture (a page from ths history books) in nearby Grove, Oklahoma, as well at the master planned 400 acre self-sufficient residential/business community of Har-Ber Meadows  just 1 mile west of I540 in Springdale is growing by leaps while knowing no boundries. Har-Ber Meadows, the
name gained from a combination of the couple's first names, was constructed on the former 400 acre family farm & childhood home of Bernice Young Jones. They had a big infulence in our hospital once Springdale Memorial now NW Medical Center. So come home to Springdale, you'll be glad "You" did.
Springdale, School System is a great place for your children, being
Considered the best in Arkansas, and recipients of countless awards and honors nationwide, the Springdale School District is comprised of 24+ schools providing a quality instructional program
designed to help each child reach their full potential. Academic programs of study give students a rigorous educational experience enabling students to learn the skills & acquire the knowledge necessary for them
to succeed. Springdale is also home to several outstanding, accredited private schools, as well. Shiloh Christian, Salem Lutheran, and Northwest Arkansas Academy provide quality education in a private school setting. Each seeking to provide a unique & solid education, our private schools have improved the diversity of the region's education. We are a City on the move with more schools in the planning stages.
